The coastlines of Sonoma, Mendocino and Humboldt Counties are great places to visit! Colorful coastal towns beckon, and many of the small, dog-hole coves offer picturesque rocky shorelines which are fun to explore. There are also many places that delight visitors for whom life is a beach.
This tree-mendous bio-region is a marvelous and memorable area in which to spend time. These temperate rain forests are noted for their serenity, coolness, ferns and of course, those awesome trees (Sequoia sempervirens). Visits are highly recommended for eco-tourists, rain forest lovers, tree-huggers and for Lord of the Rings fans who adore Treebeard. Redwood groves can be found in a number of California's coastal areas from Monterrey to del Norte counties (97% of the acreage is north of San Francisco).
