After I graduated from San Ramon High School in 1966, I attended the University of California at Davis -- from which I graduated in 1970 with a BS Degree in Biological Sciences. After that, I attended U.C. Berkeley and received my Masters Degree in Public Health Microbiology a year later. However, I never was able to get a really good job in the public health field in California at the time I received my Masters Degree, so I relocated to Seattle in the fall of 1972. I finally ended up getting a job as a technical aide at -- of all places -- The Boeing Company. I was assigned to the Noise Staff of the Boeing Commercial Airplane Group. Part of the mission of the BCAG Noise Staff is to keep the interiors of Boeing airplanes as quiet as possible and to make sure that the planes comply with community noise regulations. I was a member of BCAG's Noise Staff for 38 years, and I officially retired from the company last July 1st.
Even though I am now retired from the Boeing Company, I still like to keep up with what is happening there. One of my favorite Boeing sites is Randy's Journal. This is a well-respected corporate blog belonging to Randy Tinseth, Vice President of Marketing at Boeing Commercial Airplanes in Seattle. Another great site is the Boeing Company's official 787 Dreamliner Dream Pass site. If you haven't had a chance to fly on this airplane, this Web site is the closest thing to it.
Since my retirement began, I have joined Seattle's maritime community, and I do volunteer work for the Steamer Virginia V Foundation. The Virginia V is the last operating steam-powered wooden passenger vessel west of the Mississippi. She was built in 1922 and served as a unit of Puget Sound's Mosquito Fleet, which provided water transportation to the region before they were replaced by auto ferries.
Hobbies
Arts and Crafts
All my life I have enjoyed arts and crafts, and I still do art work as a hobby. I especially enjoy using the computer for graphics work, and you will see many examples of my art throughout this Web Site.
Music
I enjoy playing a variety of rhythm instruments, especially the didgeridoo (or “didge” for short).
Terrain Rendering
Visit my Digital Terrain Art Page for more details.
Webmastering
The Web has opened up many opportunities for me as a part-time Webmaster (and Web artist).
